Hello @impeccablyu
You’ll need an upgraded WordPress.com plan as each paid plan comes with a free domain credit which you can use to either register a new domain or transfer/map one you already own.
Since you already own a domain and want to connect it to your site, you can either transfer that domain to WordPress.com or map that domain to your WordPress.com blog.
For Transferring the domain to WordPress.com
Requirements that need to be met before you can transfer your domain:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/#requirements-for-transferring-a-domain
https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/prepare-domain-for-transfer/Also, check this guide to know which domains can be transferred to WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/#which-tlds-extensions-can-i-transfer-to-wordpress-com
Once, the requirements are met, follow the steps mentioned in this guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/#transferring-a-domain-to-wordpress-com to transfer your domain.
More information on domain transfer can be found in the following guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

Hi, just a few more thoughts:
– Adding a custom domain to a free, WordPress.com hosted site does require a plan. It can be mapped or transferred, as outlined above; either one is included in the plan price.
– If you’re using a free copy of WordPress at a hosting account elsewhere (which you would probably already be paying for) you’ll want to check in with them about any costs for adding another domain.
