  I already own the domain but when I try to build the site it indicates it is taken.

  If you have already had domain then you need to to register it again you just need to map with WordPress or transfer that domain to WordPress. For more information here is the support document for that:

  Hi there,

  What domain are you trying to use? I only see a free site in your account, https://isofeelhealthy.wordpress.com/. To use a domain you’ve already registered elsewhere with that site you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan on WordPress.com.
