  Is it best to transfer my domain to WordPress or map it from the current host? What are the pros and cons?

  Hi –

  The domain will need to be at least 60 days old before it can be transferred. That’s an ICANN regulation and will be a part of your decision.

  The 2 options to use your domain here are mapping or transfer. Either is fine. It just depends on if you want all of your domain/site details to be in one place. Even if you transfer the domain to us, but change your mind down the road you can transfer it again to another registrar (again 60 day wait) or you can edit the DNS records to point it elsewhere and keep it registered with us.

  What can be also important I think is cost. To map or to transfer the domain you will have to purchase a plan in WordPress.com. Each paid plan already includes the domain, so domain from an outside registrar is an extra cost.
