  I want to start building the site, but don’t get ownership of the domain for a few months.

  Hi woodlandck,

  That’s okay. You can start by creating a free site on WordPress.com, adding content and choosing a theme etc.

  If you have already registered the domain you wish to use, it can be mapped or transferred to WordPress.com when you are ready. Or a brand new domain can be registered if you prefer.

  Custom domains are a feature of paid plans and the domain credit included would cover the cost of one of the options above.
