  Hello I currently host my website through shopify and am wanting now to close my shopify site and move to wordpress. What is my best steps with domains and making sure I don’t go offline while building the wordpress website?

  The best way would be to keep the Shopify website while you are building the WordPress.com one, which you can do using the temporary domain.
  After you finish is you can transfer or map the domain to WordPress.com and there would not be any downtime whatsoever.
