  I used to have my domain linked to my account and now it is not. It is asking me to pay for the premium plan. Do I have to pay for a premium account to use my domain?

  You don’t have to purchase the Premium plan. You can get the Personal that you previously had. Head over to https://wordpress.com/personal/ to purchase it.
