  Hi there, every WordPressdotcom plan comes with a custom domain registration included for the first year. From the second year, you’ll pay for the domain renewal separately from your plan and the price of the renewal depends on what TLD you’ve chosen. You can see a full price list of available TLDs here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/

  If you wish to register your domain with a different domain registrar, you can still use it with your WPcom site by purchasing and renewing at least a Personal plan and mapping your domain to your WPcom site by following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  In this scenario, you will need to renew your domain name with your registrar and your upgrade plan with WPcom.
