  Hi there
  I have my own domain. I do not yet know if I want to use WordPress to make my website or pay someone to do it. I was hoping to have a ‘play’ to see how easy it is to build and therefore I am reluctant to start transfering my domains etc just yet. Is this something that I can do?

  Hello Mark,

  You can build the site using free .wordpress.com or .blog subdomain and once the site is ready you can then transfer the domain.

  You can create a site from https://wordpress.com/start/free/ and follow the prompts.

  On Give your site an address page, enter any keyword and select the free subdomain that you find.

  Yes :) This is a very common question. Go ahead and build your new site on WordPress.com. Import your content, customize the theme, get it all ready to launch.

  Keeping the new site private will help prevent any SEO confusion since you’re going to have the same content on two different addresses.
