  I own my domain name with another provider. I want to use the free website I created on wordpress without the need for the extras that come with a plan (besides being able to update m own creation as and when) with my domain name. Is this possible? and how?

  No. To use a domain you purchased elsewhere with a WordPress.com site requires a Personal plan or higher.
