Domain
-
I’ve spoken with GoDaddy, and they have said I don’t have to do the mapping which costs £11 or move/transfer the domain, I can simply change the value in my account and add the wordpress IP address, which is free.
This is what I’d like to do, but how do I do that, when your only two options are transfer and map.
Thanks

What’s the £11 mapping cost?
I have the Domain registered with GoDaddy, and want to set up a free website – why do I have to pay extra, or do I?

Hi, here are all of the features we include in our free managed and hosted sites:
https://wordpress.com/freeBeyond that, including mapping domains or adding other upgrades, we do charge. Charging for upgrades helps us cover the costs of keeping free sites free, and allows us to offer extra features and support for paid users.

By the way, I’ve merged your new comment into the older request. Please be sure to reply to this thread, rather than creating a new one, if your issue is not yet resolved. That way the history of the problem will be in one place. Thanks!

Thanks.
So, if I was to map my domain from GoDaddy (costing me £16 p/y) and then map with you for £11, the total cost to have the domain used on WordPress would b £27 p/y is that right?
It says there are extra registration costs, but what are they?
Also, what’s WordPress.org – how is that different?

If you purchase any of our paid plans, the domain mapping is free. You can read more about our plans here:

We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
