Domain

I have domains purchased with blue hosting who I will use as hosting. I just want to get into a wordpress template and begin working. I dont see a need to transfer a domain to Word press then go back to bluehost with it to host it? Why cant I just get into your template builders and get to work. Usually web builders let you build a site them publish to a domain and hosting plan. Seems very backwards.

  • Hi there,

You can create a new WordPress.com site without transferring a domain.

All sites on WordPress.com get a free WordPress.com or .blog subdomain when the site is created, that functions just like any regular subdomain, and your site is fully online and accessible at that subdomain (provided you set it to public). You can create a new site by going to https://wordpress.com/start/site/, then just select the suggested free address on the domains step.

WordPress.com is not a web builder where you create a site offline, and then upload it to a server. We’re a hosting platform, and the moment you create a new site with us, that site is hosted on our servers and connected to the internet. So from the moment a site is created it needs to have a domain, which is why we provide a free address automatically.
