  I want to build a site without mapping a domain at this time

  Hi, no problem. You’re welcome to create your new site with us before mapping a domain here, or, just use a free subdomain like lcereghin.wordpress.com.

  Plans do come with other features, including direct support, so even if you don’t use a domain you might find them useful:
  https://wordpress.com/plans

  Then you could just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain when you’re ready.
