  • I’m not entirely sure what you mean. Would you please be more specific?

i have a existing website and was done with joomla.

It´s to complicate and therefore i want to change to wordpress.

but i want first to make a new website because the old one is dated .

question is :can i make a new site in wordpress and still keep the old one till the new is ready?

  • Thanks for clarifying. Yes this is possible and many site owners here do just that.

First, you will want to upgrade your site to one of our plans (any plan) as you will need a plan to be able to use your domain. Learn more about our WordPress.com upgrade plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Once you upgrade, you can set up your site (in private) at the WordPress.com URL we assign to the site during the setup process, and then do whatever you need to do to make it ready. Once you are ready to “launch” you can connect your domain to your WordPress.com site, which will take down the Joomla site and replace it with the WordPress.com site.

    Hope this helps!

    thanks,
    two questions:
1-when i choose first the plan premium and want to change later to business is that possible without any problems?
2-when i paying for the plan :how long i need to paying for a plan?

  • 1-when i choose first the plan premium and want to change later to business is that possible without any problems?

You can upgrade at any time, yes. When you do, you’ll receive an automatic discount based on the unused time left on your Premium Plan.

2-when i paying for the plan :how long i need to paying for a plan?

All WordPress.com plans are billed for a full year at the time of purchase, and have to be renewed every year for as long as you want to continue using it.

    very clear but to clarify ;
if i cancel after 1 year a plan what happen to my website?

  • Your site will just revert back to the free example.wordpress.com address, and will lose the additional features that were added by the plan.

But the site itself, and all the content on it, will continue to exist, and you’ll be able to continue adding new content to the site on the free plan.
