  Hello there,

  I am trying to use the free version of wordpress.com to start a blog. The name I wanted to use as the domain was mamaafterdark.wordpress.com and I was able to change it somewhere but the site address still shows up as https://mamaafterdark813642838.wordpress.com/
  I do not want all those numbers after the mama after dark part. Is there any way to fix that without having to purchase a domain yet?

  Hey there, actually the name without numbers isn’t available as someone else has that site.

  You’d be welcome to set up mamaafterdark.home.blog or .art.blog, though, or whatever options works if it is available: https://wordpress.com/blog/2018/11/28/announcing-free-dotblog-subdomains/

  And, of course you can purchase a domain too if that’s available.

  The site mamaafterdark.wordpress.com is taken, and likely not by you. I expect that you might have changed the Web Address in your account profile, and that space accepts anything. It’s your site address for your profile, not a way to edit your site.

  To change your site address, follow this guide:
  https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/

  You might pick something like mamaafterdarkblog, depending on availability?
