Hello,
Last year I purchased a domain for my website. Of course after the year has passed the domain name has expired, and I want to renew it, however when I go to Upgrade > Domain and I type in the same domain name I bought from WordPress, it says that the domain is already taken althought it is not active. Yes, it was bought, by me. Then a pop up message suggests, ‘do you own it’ and If I click on this it asks me to migrate it. But, I cannot since there is nothing to migrate i bought it on WordPress.Therefore my question is how to renew the domain name if this problem occurs? Thank you so much for the help in advance, as this is very frustrating.

Domains don’t just cancel – meaning they don’t immediately become available for purchase after they expire. They enter what is called a “redemption period” which can take up to 80 days or more to fully complete and you run the risk of losing the domain altogether.
If this is for the domain
burdas.fr, you will need to recover it from redemption. For .fr domains there is no grace period after expiration, meaning that as soon as the domain reaches expiration, it goes immediately into redemption. To recover the domain from redemption you will need to pay the $15 renewal fee plus the $30 redemption fee if you want to keep the domain.If you agree to this, we’ll send you an invoice to get that paid and we’ll attempt to recover your domain.
