  Hello I am trying to connect an existing domain to this site.

  Am I able to do so for free as the domain has already been paid for?

  I understand you already own the domain with another provider. You can connect it to your WordPress.com site using Domain Connection, which is available with a WordPress.com plan. Free sites do not support adding domain connections, as you need a WordPress.com plan to be able to set your domain as the primary address.

  The WordPress.com Personal plan is a great starting point for adding your own domain and making it primary. The plan also removes ads from your WordPress.com site. You can upgrade using the link below.
