  Hi WordPress,

  I canceled the plan and domain I purchased and requested a refund. But I want to use again the domain I used ‘serapkaraduman.com’. I’ll buy it again from a different provider or wordpress. How should I proceed?

  Hi there,

  Are you considering using your domain again on your WordPress.com site, or do you have plans to use it on a different platform?

  If you’d like to keep it here on WordPress.com, I can send you a link to pay for the domain only, and then I’ll get it restored for you. Just remember that, in this case, it will only redirect to your free WordPress.com address. To make the domain the primary address people see when they visit your site, you’ll need to upgrade to one of our plans.

  Now, if you’d rather use it somewhere else and don’t mind waiting a few days, your domain should become available again by early next week. Then, you’ll be able to register it directly with the provider where you want to use it. If you don’t want to wait, I can still restore it manually for you, as mentioned above, and then help you point it to the other provider.

  When I only purchase a domain through WordPress, can I use it with another hosting company?

  Also, can I definitely transfer the domain from another provider next week without any issues or extra charges?

  Yes, this is also an option. If you wish we can recover the domain (under your WordPress.com account) immediately. Once recovered we can help you in adding the domain settings that your hosting provider recommends, and you will be able to use it as the address for your site there without issue.

  To clarify, the domain is currently cancelled. That means it’s not under our control, but we have the option to recover it within the 5 day grace period, as mentioned in my answer above.

  The way that cancelled domains work is that if it’s a new one (you canceled about 24 hours after purchase) then it is returned to the registry and made ready to be put up for sale again. That happens in about 5 days from the time you cancel, and if you are sure to keep checking then you can snatch it up again as soon as you see it’s available.

  However, there is a bit of a risk since for that period of time anyone can buy the domain, and if they act faster than you, it will not be possible for you to purchase it.

  Bottom line: If you are at all concerned about losing this domain, let us recover it for you and then you can connect it to any provider you wish. :)
