  Hi there,

  I purchased a domain name ben–smith.com through wordpress.com, I want to be able to use the domain on wordpress.org and I’m struggling on how to transfer it.

  Because I only purchased the domain a couple of weeks again it says I have to wait 44 days to transfer it. Does this still apply between wordpress.com and wordpress.org?

  Hi Ben,

  The transfer lock applies to any domain for 60 days after registering it at WordPress.com regardless of whether you plan to use it for a self-hosted WordPress.org site. However, in the meantime, you can use it with your self-hosted servers by changing the name servers as described here:

  Change a Domain’s Name Servers
