What is the difference between “domain mapping” and “domain name”? I have our domain name with CheapDomains and recently paid for that. Then I’ve received an invoice from you for $13.00 for domain mapping.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,

You can use a custom domain on WordPress.com in one of two ways: you can map a domain you already own, or purchase a domain for your site. Both ways require a “mapping” record be created, but in one case you’ve already paid for the registration of the domain, in the other we’re registering it for you.
For a domain you already own, you are only paying $13 to map the domain to your site. For a domain you register through WordPress.com, you would pay $18 or $26 to register & map the domain (with or without private registration), which includes that same $13 expense.
Both the mapping and the registration renew once per year to keep the domain active on a site.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
