  I’m really confused! I opened an account with wordpress.com. I went for the free trial as I needed my own url (knowthisblog.com). I then realised that I needed the .org site as I wanted to customise the site more than .com offered. So I cancelled the upgrade but wanted to keep the name. I went to the domain purchase and thought I was purchasing knowthisblog.com, but it had entered knowthisblogger.com, and I purchased this by accident. I cancelled this and went to purchase knowthisblog.com, but it said it’s already been purchased. I also noticed that my original wordpress.com url which was knowthisblog.wordpress.com has gone from my dashboard. Please can you advise me what I need to do to rectify this. I also set up an account with Bluehost to manage my wordpress.org page, and so I’m not sure whether the knowthis.com domain is now registered through them or not?

  Hello there!

  I’ve researched your case. What appears to have happened is this: you registered two domains, then quickly canceled them. When you took this action so quickly, the domain registrar flagged those domain names as suspended for possible abuse. This isn’t anything I can release, unfortunately, as it’s just the “rules” of the registration system.

  Generally, it takes five days for these domains to be released. You should be able to purchase them anew from Bluehost (or another domain registrar) once the domains are available.
