Domain Access

I originally purchased my domain (littlemagpie.org) through WordPress.com years ago. In 2016 I used the WordPress option to transfer to a self-hosted multisite via WordPress.org. I can no longer find or access my site – it shows up as inactive and ‘parked’ courtesy of WordPress. I have hosting through Siteground, but cannot seem to access my site to reactivate it – and I show no records of WP communication since December 2017. I understand that WP.com cannot necessarily assist, but since WP.org does not provide service of any kind, I’m at a loss as to how to renew and reactivate my site. Thank you!

  • Hey there,

I checked and littlemagpie.org is now in a redemption period. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.

Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.

Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.

I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.

Please visit the support page link for further instructions:

    Domain Expiration

In regards to the actual site, you’ll need to contact Siteground in order to get it back up online:

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

    Hi there,

Thank you for the response! I absolutely want to renew it.

I’m surprised to be in this boat because I’ve always had my domains on auto renew and can’t find any notifications of the looming expiration.

Anyway, I’ve reviewed the link and would certainly like to take care of it ASAP. Thank you!

Just following up here on next steps!

  • Hi! We’ll reach out via email with an invoice that you can pay. From there, once paid, we’ll reach out to the registrar to get it back. Talk to you soon!

  • That invoice is on its way. Please respond to the email as soon as that’s paid, and we’ll go from there. Cheers!

  • We’ll continue the rest via email. It’ll typically take about one business day to restore a domain from the time you notify us of invoice payment, so let us know as soon as you can that it’s paid. Thanks!
