Domain advice

  I’m about to create a paid for site for somebody I need some advice please – Is purchasing a domain something that should be done separately to purchasing a package on WordPress? I see if you for example purchase a premium package, you get a free domain for a year but I’m not sure if you can renew it once the year is over..and I would need to use the domain indefinitely.. so my question is would I need to purchase say, the Business package as well as a domain or only the business package and then renew after a year?

  You get a custom domain included free for the first year when you purchase any WordPress.com upgraded plan. After the first year you’d pay the cost to renew the plan and also the cost to renew the domain. Looking at previous threads in this forum I find it makes more sense to acquire domain and plan all at the same place rather than buying a domain elsewhere and have to manage two different accounts at two places.
