Domain already purchased but wordpress forcing “.wordpress”????
-
Hey all
I purchased a domain name on Namecheap today and set it up on Cloudflare. Next, I sought to build the website using WordPress, so I tried to link it and create it. Yet, when I tried to do so, it forced “.wordpress” into the site URL.
I don’t understand, I have already paid for the domain name, why is WordPress forcing itself into it as if I am using a NEW domain when the domain has already been purchased? I’m honestly so confused and I am unsure of what to do to fix this situation.

Hi there – Can you share with us the domain you are wanting to use?
We have a specific method for connecting a domain from Namecheap using Cloudflare. There are three steps involved, I’ll put them below.
Step 1: Add a hosting plan to your site and connect the domain: https://wordpress.com/plans/
Step 2: Review our documentation on how to set up DNS for Cloudflare: https://wordpress.com/support/cloudflare-cdn/
Step 3: Connect the domain: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
This is a slightly different setup because your require Cloudflare DNS settings on your domain. If you have any questions as you go through these steps, please let us know. We’ll be here to help.
