  Hi! I was looking to upgrade my wordpress plan and actually start publishing. However, my preferred domain name was already taken. This is: https://winenot.wordpress.com

  When I visited the site; it didn’t really seem in use, so I wanted to double check whether there was anything I could do to get this domain name

  You can try to reach out to the owner of that site and ask if they will be willing to transfer the site to you.
  We can’t help with that, I’m afraid.
