Domain and blog issues

  I had registered my domain with godaddy and asked them to link it to a wordpress account, I do not understand why I have to pay for the same domain again on wordpress. Also, due to not being able to tweak my own graphics, fonts, widgets, color scheme, etc. I would like to cancel with wordpress but would I get a refund? I have searched and searched for that but cannot see where it reads anything about a refund. On another note, THANK YOU so much for having the patience with us, non-tech-savvy mortals :)
