Domain and blog transfer

    I currently have a blog and website builder with godaddy. I am looking to transfer my content to another website builder that offers more options and assistance to beginner bloggers. If I transfer my website to WordPress, will it cause my current website to go down for any certain period of time? And will I lose any of my current content by transferring.
    I have my own domain name. Any advice on the best way to go about this?

    Hi there, I’m going to answer your questions a bit out of order, since I think that will be more helpful to you:

    When you transfer the domain, the content is not transferred with it. It just moves the domain registration to our service, and continues pointing it at your current GoDaddy site until you switch things over.

    Usually people in your situation may transfer the domain now or later. But they’ll set up a site here using a temporary domain, and copy the content over from the old site so everything is copied over to our services.

    And when it’s all ready to go, they’ll change the domain settings so it points to the new site here.

    There’s not much downtime associated with the method I mentioned above. During the transition, someone might see the old site or the new site, but ultimately everyone will end up seeing the new site.
