Domain and content transfers among two blogs
-
I have a blog on WordPress – “www.randomnerves.com”. I had purchased the domain for this.
However, I was planning to start a new blog, but this is where I had the doubt.
I want my new blog, (lets call it Z.com for now) to have its own .com domain, and I can do with “randomnerves” losing its domain.
So, can I change the name of the new blog to “randomnerves” making it “randomnerves.wordpress.com” and transfer my contents to this new blog, and then change the blog that is currently “randomnerves.com” to “Z.com”, so that I can let “Z.com” have the benefits of a .com domain.
Please let me know, if this is possible, or there exists a work around which is close to it.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It seems like it would be possible, but I just need to clarify a few more things. I see that you have randomnerves.wordpress.com pointing to the domain: randomnerves.com. We can remove the domain: randomnerves.com and add a new domain (Z.com) easily as this is just changing the domain name. So, what you would end up with is all the content of randomnerves.wordpress.com pointing to the domain: Z.com.
However, when it comes to blog content, I have a few questions. When you say that you want to transfer the contents of your new blog to randomnerves.wordpress.com, do you have another blog that you want to use instead of randomnerves.wordpress.com? I see that you have two other blogs in your account: zingurs.wordpress.com and ablogformovies.wordpress.com. If you want to use the content of one of these blogs, what we can do is just add Z.com to either blog.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need more clarification!
Cheers!

Hi,
Thanks for clarifying domain transfer, that kind of helps.
However, I do not want to let go the name “randomnerves” either.
I want to create a new blog and give it the name, “randomnerves.wordpress.com”. And then I want to transfer all of my content to this new blog.
So that way, randomneves will still exist with all its content and people can still access it (but by the link random1nerves.wordpress.com instead of randomnerves.com).I want z.com to be a new but empty blog. So I just basically want all the content to be transferred and nothing left in z.com after the name has changed, because I have other content plans for it.
Note
———-
In very simple terms this is what I want to have.
I have paid for randomnerves.com, but I feel it is not giving the returns I expected, however, I think “z.com” will. So I want to have z.com to be the one with the premium account, and randomnerves.com can be demoted to randomnerves.wordpress.com.So if you can do this without the domain and content transfer; well and good. :-)
I hope that helps to understand my query better.
Thanks a lot in advance. -
Hi there,
So we can just let the domain: randomnerves.com expire on its own. I will disable the auto-renewal of this domain. We can just leave this blog as it is. Once the domain expires, we can update the primary domain to be randomnerves.wordpress.com.
You can then create a brand new blog and add your new domain (Z.com) to this new site with the WordPress.com Premium upgrade.
You can create a new blog by logging into WordPress.com and going to My Blogs at the top of the page. Once you are there, there will be a link on the left side to Create Another Blog.
If you have already created a new site, you can purchase WordPress.com Premium by going to Store in the Dashboard of your new site. After you have done that you can add your new domain (Z.com) by going to Store > Domains in your Dashboard. You can find more information about that here.
If you have any questions about this, let me know!

Hmm, yes, I guess that is it. I should just wait and avoid all the other hassles.
Thanks a lot :-) -
No problem at all! When you get your new site up and running, feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Happy Holidays!
