Domain and DNS problems
-
Hi there,
I created an accout and purchased a .com domain at wordpress.com (peszti.com) Did I get hosting service along with domain? If not how can I connect my hosting service with my webpage?
They asked me for some DNS details that I should get from whom I purchased the domain.
I also could not find any option to upload my own custom theme.
Thank you for your reply in advance.
Best,

You can point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), with these steps:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)
I hope this helps – let me know if you have any more questions!
-
Dear Josh,
Thank you so much, I did those steps but how can I be sure if it works?
Also should I delete the existing wp nameservers in the nameserver list?
Many thanks.

You need to replace the WP nameservers with the new nameservers. The WP nameservers should not be there at all.

Dear JOsh,
One more question if I may…
When changing nameservers, I can only edit the Custom but not the Hosting. Does it matter?
-
-
Oh Im still lost…
Ok I deleted wpnameservers, added those received from hosting service. Nothing happened…
I jus checked the Store/Domain on dashboard, and it says:“We’ve completed the technical setup on our servers to successfully map your domain peszti.com to your WordPress.com blog. Now you have to edit the name servers at your registrar to point to us.
You can usually change your name servers at your domain registrar’s website, but the process is different for each registrar.
Please visit your registrar’s website or contact their support team for instructions on how to update your name servers.
Currently the nameservers for this domain are:
xxxxxxUsing the DNS tools provided by your domain registrar, remove any existing nameservers and add the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMThen come back here and try again. It may take several hours for our system to recognize the changes.
If you need more information, see our Mapping an Existing Domain support guide.”
Nothing to do with it?

Well I’m seeing those nameservers as being set correctly. But I’m not seeing the domain correctly pointing anywhere. I think you are going to need to talk to your webhost and ask them why the domain isn’t mapping correctly.
-
-
As I said, I think you are going to have to talk to your webhost. We are sending traffic to the nameservers you provided. But that traffic is not arriving at dima.hu where your site with them should be.
-
Dear Josh,
Ok, I talked to my webhost they gave me wrong nameservers. That’s ok, but now I cannot change it because I cannot log in to securepaynet throught WordPress (when I click on Manage DNS) it says that my account is locked. I went to securepaynet website to reset my password, but when I try it says that wrong Customer #/E-mail combination. Their support suggested me asking you about this…
Oh gosh I will never have my on site… :( -
Hi there, I’ll to contact our registrar partner to have the lock lifted. I’ll keep you posted here.
-
Hi there, your account has been unlocked.
You’ll need to reset the domain manager password first, since Josh had to change it earlier to be able to log in and have a look at your settings.
Let me know if you run into any trouble with it.

Dear Kathryn,
Thank you, now I could change the password, logged in, changed nameservers, waited 3 days, and on wp still says: “We checked the nameservers and it looks like they’re not pointing to WordPress.com yet. If you recently updated them please check again soon. It can take a few hours for registrars to complete update their nameservers.”However this link says that it is connected.
http://who.is/whois/peszti.com
But still not working… :( What to do now? -
“We checked the nameservers and it looks like they’re not pointing to WordPress.com yet. If you recently updated them please check again soon. It can take a few hours for registrars to complete update their nameservers.”
That error message only applies if you intend to map your domain to a WordPress.com site. Since you’ve pointed your domain elsewhere, you can just ignore the message.
This is what I see on your domain now: http://cl.ly/image/291B1w034520
Do you see that on your end?
Since you’re no longer using WordPress.com to build your site, you’ll need to put up some content using whatever site-building system you’ve decided to use instead.
Just let me know if you need further help.

Dear Kathryn,
Thank you for your reply, now I am totally lost. How come I no longer use WordPress.com to build my site? Why is that? Until this there was a site on Peszti.com with wp theme etc, I could use the dashboard etc of wp. I don’t understand… all I wanted is just a uniqe domain (I purchased through wp) and hosting connected to it but all running on wordpress because it is simple (I thought).
What should I do now?
