Domain and email transfer
-
I purchased my domain “harlowpenguins.com” from Namesco Limited, but they are not as good for hosting. I’d like to host with WordPress.com by upgrading my present blog, but you don’t seem to offer email.
I’m having difficulty working out how to minimize cost and what I will be obliged to pay to whom.
Am I right in understanding that I can map a domain I already own for an extra £11. But that’s only if I have a Premium Plan. So that much is going to cost me a total £96. But why renew the domain registration with Namesco? Can’t I renew it with WordPress and have nothing more to do with Namesco? If I had taken out a domain that was available at first from WordPress then it would have only cost me £85.
Email: Namesco provide a combined hosting and email service. If WordPress do not offer email what should I expect to pay for additional email services and can I get these cheaper than at Namesco?
Domain registration is a thru cost, I understand. Its costing me £20 a year and it doesn’t much matter to whom I pay it. But Namesco are charging £99 for combined hosting and email. I don’t want my entire bill to go up by £96 and be paying two companies. But I do need to have email forwarding aliases on @harlowpenguins.com and some mailbox space, preferrably IMAP.
Thanks

Hi,
Just to clarify a couple of things:
1. You need not purchase the premium plan to map an existing domain that you own.
Yes, domain mapping is an independent service, and you do not need to purchase the premium plan to get it. So it’s going to cost you £11 more, and you don’t have to shell out £96. Quoting the domains page:A custom domain is also included in both the Premium and Business Plans.
i.e. You’ll the custom domain comes free with the Premium and Business packages, but you can also purchase it separately. So, if you’re considering the Premium plan, you won’t have to shell out £11 extra for domain mapping.
2. Domain Transfers to WordPress.com?
But why renew the domain registration with Namesco? Can’t I renew it with WordPress and have nothing more to do with Namesco?
Unfortunately, WordPress.com does not support incoming domain transfers at the moment.

WordPress.com does not offer email services by default, but it does offer email forwarding, whereby you can create a custom ‘@ harlowpenguins.com’ email address that you can redirect to an email id of your choice. Once you’ve mapped your domain to WordPress.com, setting up email forwarding is easy. Please check this link to know more:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/In case you’d like to set up a custom mailbox, you can choose free alternatives like Zoho (which is free up to 10 mailboxes including support) as well as paid alternatives like Google Apps, Microsoft Office 365 etc. (I personally recommend Zoho). This support article will guide you how to go about the same:
