Domain and hosting
-
Hi
I have my domain registered along with a hosting package with easy hosting. I haven’t setup a domain before so not sure how I use that with wordpress. I got a weebly account with the hosting package but without upgrading, it doesn’t have enough customisation. I think wordpress is going to be better for what we need.
If I transfer the domain what happens with the hosting space etc? is the website I build with wordpress stored on easyhosting servers still? -
Hi there:
There seems to be a number of questions here – I’ll try to address them individually. :)
I have my domain registered along with a hosting package with easy hosting. I haven’t setup a domain before so not sure how I use that with wordpress.
If you want to set up a WordPress install with Easy Hosting, you should reach out to their support for help and they can advise how you can use your domain with your WordPress install.
NOTE: You’re posting on the WordPress.com forums, which is for helping people with their sites hosted at WordPress.com. If you set up your own WordPress site at Easy Hosting, you would be using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) and would be hosted at Easy Hosting.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

Everything you would be doing with WordPress would be on Easy Hosting, not WordPress.com. You should also not transfer your domain if you’re going to have your site on Easy Hosting. Regarding your Weebly site, I’m not sure what they do if you’re not using their service, so I would recommend you reach out to Weebly support for clarification.
Again, you should reach out to your host with these questions as they would be the ones who could help you and best advise on your WordPress setup.
I hope that helps!
