Domain and hosting

    do I need to purchase the hosting to start or can I purchase it later after completing the site?

    Hi there,

    We do not actually have “hosting fees” on WordPress.com same as you would find on a traditional hosting provider. In fact, you can build, create, and launch your site for free without the need to upgrade. We have many site owners who do just that and never feel the need to upgrade.

    Because hosting is free here, the upgrade plans are intended to actually add more features to your site (custom domain, more design tools, options to add plugins, etc.) you can upgrade to them at any time as your needs change, or if there is functionality you need on your site that is not included in our free option.
