Domain and Hosting

    Good day,

Please can someone advise on the following:

Im busy creating a website for a client and they are wanting to use a .co.za domain.
I noticed that WordPress doesn’t offer that. So I am a bit confused on how to move forward.

If I buy the domain from a different service provider what is the process?
    1. How do I get my website pointing to that domain from the separate service provider? Ideally I would like to keep the hosting on WordPress especially if I’m already paying for it on the website
    2. Would I need to take separate hosting with the service provider with whom I am registering the domain with or can I still have it hosted on WordPress?
    3. Does the WORDPRESS package price for the site differ if I am having to buy a domain or host from a different service provider? Would I still need to buy a plan ?

Would be great getting some info the steps I would need to take next.

  • 1. and 2. We cannot register that TLD, but if you register it elsewhere, you can map it to a site here at WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

    3. Each paid plan includes one free domain registration, transfer, or mapping, and you do need a paid plan to set that domain as your site’s primary address: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address

Please let us know if you have any more questions!
