Domain and two sites

  • Unknown's avatar

I built two free websites within WordPress. Then I signed up with Bluehost and they gave me a free domain. How do I transfer that domain to my primary site within WordPress?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi freelancewriter607,

Then I signed up with Bluehost and they gave me a free domain.

Which domain would you like to use? Do you want to connect that domain with your WordPress.com site, freelancewriter610.wordpress.com?

Just let me know and we can go from there.

    Thanks!

Yes I would like to use my writerhealthandgrants.com domain as my primary. I would like what I created under the freelancewriter610.com to become my primary site of writerhealthandgrants.com. What I started to create under writerhealthandgrants.com can I make that go away? And then hold freelancewriter610.com for something else?

    Thanks,
    Carol

    Hi Carol,

I would like what I created under the freelancewriter610.com to become my primary site of writerhealthandgrants.com.

The domain freelancewriter610.com isn’t currently registered. Did you mean you want to continue using freelancewriter610.wordpress.com as the site you publish your content to? And add writerhealthandgrants.com as the custom domain for that site?

Yes that is exactly what I would like to do.

    Thank you,
    Carol

    Hi Carol,

Great! writerhealthandgrants.com can be connected to your WordPress.com site with domain mapping:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Domain mapping is a feature of paid plans — Personal, Premium and Business. Each paid plan includes one domain credit which can be used to map a domain you already own (or register a new one).

You will still need to continue renewing writerhealthandgrants.com through FastDomain as our plans only include renewal for domains registered through WordPress.com.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
