domain and website issue
-
my domain address does not take me to the landing page of the site. The Go Daddy technician asked me to contact WordPress to ask for A records and C names so that he can update them within the system and make it work. Could you please provide A records and C name for my site (ecalibrary.com.au)? Thanks, Rita

Hi there,
Where exactly are you trying to point your domain?
If you want to point it to your site apiclibrary.wordpress.com which is hosted here on WordPress.com, then you need to follow these instructions:
https://wordpress.com/en/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
Please note that this will require one of our paid plans to work.
If your site is hosted on a different host, then you need to contact them and ask them for the DNS records.

Hello,
I have a wordpress website: https://ecalibrary.com.au that I purchased via Go Daddy and almost complete. I have not renewed the editor dashboard/admin site but I renewed the domain in Oct 2021. However, I can’t access both the website and the admin site now. I have contacted Go Daddy technician and he asked me to contact WordPress support to ask for A records & C names then provide him with this information to update from his end. I have no idea what does this means but would appreciate your assistance. The ‘apiclibrary.wordpress.com’ is a different one that I created for practice. Thanks, Rita.

Hello there,
This site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider. This is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
For help gaining access to this site, you would need to reach out to GoDaddy support: https://www.godaddy.com/en-uk/contact-us
I hope this helps.

Hi,
I have contacted GoDaddy and this time they said that my site had been automatically removed and can’t be restored ><“. Would you be able to restore the website for me? If not, could you guide me on how to get hosted on WordPress.com and install the theme?
Thanks, Rita

Oh, no! I’m sorry to hear that. We can’t restore the site for you because it was never hosted on our servers.
If you’d like to create a new one here, on WordPress.com, you can do so and connect your GoDaddy domain as explained here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/.
You’ll need one of our paid plans for that, but connecting your domain is included in that price.
You mentioned installing a theme; I understand that you’d like to use the same one you had on your other site? If it’s a theme developed by a third-party (not WordPress.com), you’ll need plan Business to install it:https://wordpress.com/support/business-plan/.
As for the content of the lost site, if you haven’t done any backup, I’m afraid nothing can really be done, and you’ll have to start from scratch :(
