Domain Attachment URLs
-
Greetings!
I have a WordPress site that I bought a domain for and I use the site under the domain name (jeselsohncenter-he.com). However, I notice that any attachment is automatically linked to the free blog site name that I had chosen at random to connect to the previously purchased domain. So, how can I change the “foundation” of my site to rid myself of the silly previous name (jc100745284353.wordpress.com)?Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
You might need to contact support.
I have tagged this thread so a support staff will get in touch soon.
Have a great day :)

Hi,
You can visit this link and follow the steps to change the name
Many thanks

From what I understand, I already have that done. However I’m still getting my old “temporary” site name on attachments despite it saying this on that support page:
“If you add a custom domain for use with your blog, the original ‘wordpress.com’ domain/URL is never visible to your readers for as long as the custom domain is used on your blog.”
Thanks for your help and thread-tagging though, jnr4u2!

Hi jecfjh,
Even if a custom domain is added, you still keep the free address jc100745284353.wordpress.com. Anyone visiting the posts and pages (including attachment pages) of your site will only see the custom domain in their browser’s address.
Media will still reference the free address though — the changing site address documentation @jnr4u2 linked to won’t be able to help with this.
Changes to media URLs are on our list of possible improvements for the future but for now, there isn’t a way to use a custom domain for media URL’s.
You’re welcome to start a chat if you need any further help :)

Hey @gemmacevans,
Thanks for the clarification, I’ll have to work around this silly issue. Shame I didn’t know beforehand, or else I’d have picked a better “random” free address.

@jecfjh if you’d like, you can change the base free address to something else:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Just note any old links to those files would stop working.
Want to give that a shot and let us know if you need more help?
