Domain Authorization code not working
-
Hello,
I am trying to connect my domain to my account. I have been using this domain for my website with WordPress for a couple of years. A week ago i let my plan expire, and i’ve just got it back.
However, when i try to verify ownership of my domain, and put in the authorization code (that is copy and pasted from the email I got from 1st domains, which is who my domain is from) it comes up with ‘Incorrect auth code provided for ownership verification of poppetinabox.co.nz.’
Please fix this immediately.
I have tried going in and out of the screen, and the account, but nothing is working.WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi there,
I’ve had a look at the issue you were facing with your domain, and I’m glad to let you know that I’ve successfully restored the connection.
Also, it appears that you have properly set up your DNS records, so the domain now correctly points to your WordPress.com site.
If, for some reason, you’re still unable to load your site, it could be due to your browser holding onto outdated information. I would recommend trying to clear your browser’s cache and then attempting to access your site again. Here’s how to do that: https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

Hey @nanyangconfucianassociation,
Happy to help you with this.
It looks like the domain DNS servers for https://kongzi.org.sg/ were configured to point to WordPress.com, and so what was missing was the domain connection inside of WordPress.com.
I’ve gone ahead and re-added this connection and I can see the site now appears under: https://kongzi.org.sg/
If that’s not visible you may nee to clear the browser cache: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
I hope this helps!

Here are a few troubleshooting steps to consider:
- Confirm Correct Authorization Code: Double-check that the authorization code you are using is correct. Authorization codes are typically alphanumeric and case-sensitive. Ensure there are no typos or mistakes when entering the code.
- Contact Domain Registrar: If the authorization code continues to be rejected, it’s possible that the code provided is incorrect or expired. Contact your domain registrar or the company from which you obtained the authorization code for assistance. They can verify the code’s validity and provide further guidance.
- Domain Transfer Lock: Check if your domain has any transfer locks or restrictions in place. Some registrars offer domain lock features to prevent unauthorized transfers. Make sure the domain is unlocked and not restricted for transfers before attempting to use the authorization code.
- Registrar-Specific Requirements: Different registrars may have specific requirements or processes for using authorization codes. Review the documentation or support resources provided by your domain registrar to ensure you are following their specific instructions correctly.
- Registrar Account Access: Ensure that you have proper access to your domain registrar account and the necessary permissions to perform domain transfers or updates. Check if there are any issues with your account or if additional verification steps are required.
- Contact Support: If you have exhausted the troubleshooting steps above and are still unable to resolve the issue, reach out to the customer support of your domain registrar. They will have the necessary tools and expertise to investigate and assist with any problems related to authorization codes.

Thank you for your help @aleone89!
Thank you for the tips @gauravkumarwebdev!
I found another thread with a similar (if not identical) issue for the reference of other users facing this issue. Seems like its a common issue when people accidentally let their plan expire.
