  Hi, my personal plan including domain expired earlier in the year and I have been looking at renewing it however through a google search it looks like my original domain is now a Japanese site about preventing illness or suchlike. If I renew my subscription can I get that specific domain back or is there a way of knowing if it has it be bought by someone else now and is unretreivable? Many thanks for your help

  If you let the domain expire for long enough for it to be released and be purchased by others then you have lost it.

  @lydiablakeley – You let the domain registration expire in February 2021. At that time the domain entered a redemption period, of which you would have still been able to recover the domain.

  Your domain was released back into the general domain marketplace in April 2021 and was purchased by another party in June 2021. Since the domain is owned by someone else, I’m afraid there’s nothing you can do to get that domain back at this point. You might want to monitor the domain registrars next year after June 2022 to see if the person who purchased it lets it expire and you can pick it back up.

  Otherwise you would need to choose a new domain for your site, or you can continue to use the free *.wordpress.com URL for your site.
