domain availability after cancellation of plan
-
I cancelled a website plan with WordPress because the learning curve was too step for the time I had available. The plan included a domain (created within the WordPress environment, not externally) which I also cancelled because to transfer it to a new host would have taken 60 days due to the fact that I had only bought the domain a day or two before. I decided to simply wait for the domain to come back on the market as it is of little value to anyone else. My question is how long does it take? I heard 3 or 4 days. It still seems to be assigned according to domain registry sites. Is here anything that the good people at WordPress can do to accelerate this process? or even better, notify me? Many thanks in advance.

Hi @alunlennon, if you cancelled within 48 hours, it’s released about 5 days from cancellation. We don’t have a way to hurry it along.
If you wanted us to restore the domain, we could help you point it to your new host so it can start working there (and then somewhere else if the new host doesn’t work out). Then you could transfer it to the registrar of your choice after day 60.
Let us know; we can restore it and send an invoice for the domain portion of your refund.
