Domain Cancelation

  Hello, I recently bought a business plan and received a domain with that plan. Then I realized I needed to cancel the business plan. I am trying to still purchase that domain, but it is showing up as already registered. How do I buy that domain? Thank you!

  Hi there,

  It can be difficult to get a domain back after you have cancelled. You should only cancel a domain if you are sure you no longer want it and are okay with the potential of someone else registering and using it.

  Please share the domain name that you are trying to purchase.

  Thank you for your response! Yeah, it was very dumb of me. I wrongly assumed that once I canceled it I would be able to purchase it. The domain is gocollin.com. Thank you for your help!

  Hi Collin,

  Do you still want the domain for your site here on WordPress.com, or do you plan on using it somewhere else?

  If you want to use it here, I can send you a link to pay for the domain only and then restore it.

  If you want to use it somewhere else and willing to wait a few days, the domain should become available again by early next week, at which point you can register it directly at the provider where you want to use it. If you prefer not to wait we can still restore it manually as above as well, and then help you point it to the other provider.

  Let me know what you’d prefer.

  Thank you so much for your help!! If I wait and purchase it through a different provider, is there a chance that someone else might be able to purchase it once it becomes available? Thank you again!

  Once the domain hits the public market, it’s always possible that someone else may purchase it before you.

  I have sent a payment request for the total of $18 to the email address on your account. Once the payment is sent, please reply here to let us know, and we will recover the domain.
