Domain Cancellation

    I have cancelled my domain by mistake instead of making a transfer as i had intended to do. Now when I try to purchase the same domain from godaddy it says it’s already taken. How many days does it take to for the domain to get released from the registrar.

    Canceled domains are held by the registrar before being released into the pool of available domains. This typically takes a week or two, but can be longer. There is a risk that the domain will never be released and will be snatched up by someone who was waiting for it.

    If you like, I can try and reverse the cancellation. I will let you know if I am successful, it typically takes 12-48 hours.

    Then you will be able to use the domain here on WordPress.com or point your domain to a new webhost using these instructions:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

    After 60 days, you would also be able to transfer to another registrar if you like.
