Domain cancellation

    Hello,

    A few years ago, I owned a particular domain name (without wordpress in it).

    I have since canceled the renewal of this name several years ago. However, when I try to use this same domain through another provider, it says this domain is taken. Can you please instruct me how to officially take this domain off wordpress, so that I can re-use it elsewhere? Thanks!

    Hi! If it’s the domain you cancelled back in 2018, that was removed from our service some time ago. It looks like someone else bought it. There’s really no way to fix that unless you want to reach out to them and ask to buy it from them. You should be able to find a way to contact them if you look up their info at whois.com (or a similar site).

    I’d recommend choosing another domain if possible, then holding onto it if you’ll ever want to use it again. Sorry we don’t have better news on that!
