Domain Cancellation Through Web Host, Renewal Through WordPress?

  I cancelled my domain registration for a full website through WebHostinghub.com, but it’s still saying that domain is taken when I try to register it for my WordPress blog. No page is found when I try to visit that domain. How can I redirect that domain to my WordPress blog and start a new payment through WordPress? Must I choose a new domain?

  Hello there!

  It appears as if your domain, gracelinearts.com/, is still in the redemption period. This means it is not yet released for repurchase. It appears as if it’s currently owned by the domain registrar, http://www.melbourneit.com/.

  There are three options:

  1. You can contact them directly and repurchase the domain. In that case, they would stay your domain registrar, and we’d map your WordPress.com site to your custom domain. This option may be the quickest, but also quite possibly more expensive.
  2. You can wait until http://www.melbourneit.com releases your domain name and then purchase it here at WordPress.com. That way, your domain management would take place here, on your site’s Dashboard. Although this is less expensive, the problem is that there is no guarantee about when or if they’ll release your domain for resale.
  3. Finally, you can choose a new domain name, register it here at your Store on your Dashboard. This is the simplest, quickest option…but also forces you to change your domain name.

  Thank you for the quick reply! I think I will just buy a new domain name from wordPress. Unfortunately though, I tried to purchase remapping and the purchase went through before I found out that my old domain is no longer available. How can I get a refund for that from WordPress.com?
