    If i want to upgrade from the free wordpress.com URL to one that is just a standard .com, will the old one still redirect to the new upgraded domain? I don’t want to lose people who have bookmarked the old site, but I want to make it easier for new folks by upgrading and removing the wordpress portion.

    Site: (email visible only to moderators and staff).
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    With a WordPress.com plan subscription, you can add a custom domain name and it will show in the browser’s address bar when someone visits your site. The free *.wordpress.com address still works, but we will automatically redirect it to your custom domain so you won’t lose any followers who have bookmarked your site.
