domain change

I have a domain through att web hosting. They have wordpress, but it wasn’t working properly on their site, so they told me to create my site on this wordpress site, now when i want to change my domain name on here, the wordpress site is prompting me to pay $13 a year. Att says I shouldn’t have to pay for this service. Any suggestions?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Clearly, we don’t give a feather or a fug what Att says.
WordPress.com provides free blogs and free hosting as well as many free features. WordPress.com will not map to an existing domain from a free hosted unless the charge of $13.00 per year is paid.

If you would like to use your domain name purchased elsewhere and map from your free hosted wordpress.com blog to it, then you will first need to set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
