domain change

  Hi! I purchased a domain on WordPress (hashtaginterpreting.com), which is linked to the blog that I have on WordPress. I have now created my website with wix.com, and I would like to link my domain (hashtaginterpreting.com) to that website. I still want to keep my blog on WordPress, and maybe purchase a second domain or a subdomain, such as blog.hashtaginterpreting.com. Can I do that? And how?

  Hi Jessica – You can point your domain to Wix in this way:
  Change name servers

  You’ll want to use these name servers for Wix:
  NS1.WIX.COM and NS2.WIX.COM

  If you have any trouble, please let me know which step you’re getting stuck at, and what happens when you try to follow it. I’ll be happy to help you out!

  Once you’ve pointed your domain there, you should be able to set up a CNAME record on their end to point your blog.hashtaginterpreting.com back to your WordPress.com site. Their instructions for how to do this are here:

  Hi!

  Thank you for your advice. I was able to map my domain hashtaginterpreting.com to Wix. I purchased a subdomain on WordPress, blog.hashtaginterpreting.com. but I still can’t seem to map it back to WordPress from Wix, where the main domain is now pointed. Any suggestions?

  Hi Jessica – Since your name servers are now pointed to Wix, you’ll have to set up a CNAME record for the subdomain on their end to point the subdomain back to your blog.

  You’ll want to use a CNAME similar to this:

  CNAME blog hashtaginterpretingdotcom.wordpress.com.

  Wix has instructions here:
  http://www.wix.com/support/main/html5/domains-email/managing-your-domain-records#weight-5

  Your alias is blog and your host name is hashtaginterpretingdotcom.wordpress.com

  Hi! I really appreciate your help. I did that, I hope it works. On WordPress now, where I have to select the main domain, do I select blog.hashtaginterpreting.com or hashtaginterpretingdotcom.wordpress.com? I read it should be the latter, but if you could confirm it that would be really helpful!
