Domain change after upgrade plan?

  I created a free site, free domain (example.wordpress.com). Now I want to upgrade to the personal plan, which they said I have 1 year free domain at my will. Can I change the current domain to example.com after I upgrade the plan? How?

  Hi there!

  When purchasing a paid plan, you’ll be asked to choose a domain for your site. You can then register for free any available custom domain.
  Once you set that domain as your primary address, your free subdomain (the one that ends with .wordpress.com) will be redirecting to the new address.

  Thank you for your reply. I was worrying that I couldn’t change to whatever domain I want after I finished the customization for the current free site. This cleared my concern.

  Ah no, no worries! The domain is just an address; it will not affect your content in any way :).
