Domain Change and Access Troubles
-
Hello Community,
I’m in a bit of a bind with my WordPress site and could use some expert advice. I’ve encountered a roadblock after attempting a domain change and now have issues accessing my admin panel. Here’s a breakdown of the situation:
- The admin panel was originally accessible at beachcomberdr.com/admin.
- I started changing the domain to lascanasbeachretreat.com via the “WordPress Address and Site Address” settings.
- Mid-process, the interface froze, leading me to close the browser. Now, trying to access beachcomberdr.com/admin redirects to lascanasbeachretreat.com with a security warning (see image).
To complicate matters:
- Signing in at wordpress.com with my (email visible only to moderators and staff) account shows only an old, retired site.
- The new domain, lascanasbeachretreat.com, isn’t listed under my account, and visiting it triggers a security warning (see image).
Here’s the twist: I have an UpdraftPlus plugin backup of the site, but I’m unsure how to proceed with it given that I can’t access my original admin account. I’m concerned that restoring from this backup might not work because my subscriptions to Elementor Pro and WordPress could be invalidated due to the access issues.
Has anyone dealt with a similar predicament, or can offer insight on using the Updraft backup in this scenario? I’m worried about losing all access and data on my site. Any prompt guidance would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you all for your help.
Best,
ReeceP.S. I’ve reached out here earlier last week and was recommended to post on WordPress.org but they insist that this is the best place to get help. Would appreciate any and all advice that comes to mind!
