Domain Change – Are articles redirected?
-
I already have a website http://nourishingourchildren.org and also have a blog here at WordPress – nourishingourchildren.wordpress.com. I want to keep my website intact but, would like to change the wordpress.com part of our current blog url.
I understand there is a possibility of changing our domain to blog.nourishingourchildren.org or articles.nourishingourchildren.org but, wonder what will happen to all of the current articles that have a different address?
For example, if an article is listed as https://nourishingourchildren.wordpress.com/2015/01/11/got-real-milk-chances-are-you-dont/ – will it be automatically forwarded or directed to the new url?
I am afraid to make any changes and not have our articles accessible.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

will it be automatically forwarded or directed to the new url?
Yes.
You can accomplish what you seek by following these instructions:
In this case, simply map blog.nourishingourchildren.org to nourishingourselves.wordpress.com.
Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you so much for your response. Unfortunately, I am not clear on the instructions.
This is not my situation: Adding a Subdomain if your Domain is Registered Elsewhere and Mapped to WordPress.com
I don’t have a website mapped to WordPress.com.
I simply have a website nourishingourchildren.org. It is independent.
I have a blog nourishingourchildren.wordpress.com. It is independent. The two are not connected in any way. -
The address blog.nourishingourchildren.org is a subdomain of nourishingourchildren.org, which is an existing domain that you have registered elsewhere.
If you want to use the address blog.nourishingourchildren.org with the WordPress.com site, nourishingourchildren.wordpress.com, you can do that via the instructions I previously provided:
However, if you only want to change the address of nourishingourchildren.wordpress.com, you can do that, as well:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Please note that the final step in changing your site address allows you to keep or discard the old address. If you are changing your site address so that you can use the address for a new site, please be sure to keep the old address.
For more information about the differences between domain registration, hosting, and mapping, please see our page All About Domains:

If I’ve misunderstood the issue, or if you have any other questions, please let me know.

I simply don’t understand the directions.
I have not yet established blog,nourishingourchildren.org. I need to call my hosting plan with nourishingourchildren.org to inquire about that piece.
Are these the directions? Adding a Subdomain if your Domain is Registered Elsewhere and Mapped to WordPress.com
1. Register a new WordPress.com blog (e.g. kittens.wordpress.com) which will hold the content at kittens.mycat.com. Be sure to do this while logged in as the same user that owns the primary domain.
I already have a domain registered with WordPress, with many, many articles i don’t wan to lose. nourishingourchildren.wordpress.com
So do I skip step 1?
4. Note: if your domain is already registered with WordPress.com or mapped to a WordPress.com blog, you do not need to add any kind of CNAME record.
My domain is not registered with WordPress.com or mapped to WordPress.com. I am trying to learn how to do that now. So, I don’t know what to do with this step?
-
For clarification, where do you want to host the content for the site you’re going to use with blog.nourishingourchildren.org?
If you need a better understanding of the differences between domains and hosting, please review the page I previously linked to:

After you elaborate on your wishes, I will explain what you need to do in order to get your new setup configured.
