Domain change – Site is down
-
Hi,
Trying to get our website back up and running. We were originally hosted on Google as quotafactory.com and transferred over to WordPress recently, renaming the domain to salesdevelopment.io. Since the change, our site now redirects to a WordPress placeholder page for our new name.
Looking to figure out what went wrong how we can fix this ASAP. Can someone help me turn old site on for the time being or let me know how to get this new site up and running with our previous information?
Site: https://salesdevelopmentio.wordpress.com.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
You’ll need to redirect your first domain name back to your original hosting provider so you can access the old site again.
Then, you can transfer its contents over to the new domain hosted here by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. When reaching out to Google (our original hosting provider), this is the response we received:
“As I suspected, this domain was registered via Google Workspace / Gsuite. We do not and did not provide any website hosting services for this domain. Hence we have no XML file that you are referring to.”
Do you know if this mean the content on the original website, before converting to WordPress, no long exists?

Hmmm, if you had a site hosted somewhere, and it wasn’t hosted at Google or with us, do you know who you were previously paying for hosting?
Even if you weren’t previously using WordPress, and even if you don’t have an XML file, I’m hoping that some host (Google or Linode, it seems) would have a copy of your site that you can restore.
Once you have that, depending on what kind of site it is, we can help you find the best way to migrate it to our services. You would just need to do that, that is move the content here, first. And it helps if you have a live site to refer to.
