domain configure doesn't show
-
I have mapped the domain stoknes.com to my blog stoknesdotcom.wordpress.com, but when I try to set stoknes.com as the primary domain I get this errortext:
“We checked the nameservers and it looks like they’re not pointing to WordPress.com yet. If you recently updated them please check again soon. It can take a few hours for registrars to complete update their nameservers.”
However, if I type in stoknes.com in the address-field I get redirected properly. I contacted the domain-host and they say the site is redirected. What am I missing?
Hope you can help.

Hi there,
It looks like you did a site redirect to from your domain to your WordPress.com site: stoknesdotcom.wordpress.com.
However, if you want to use stoknes.com as the primary domain so that it maps your WordPress.com site, you will have to update the nameservers. Currently, your nameservers are set to:
- dns1.webhostingprovider.com
- dns2.webhostingprovider.com
Please have them change the nameservers to:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Once changed, please update your primary domain to: stoknes.com and your site will appear at stoknes.com. Even, if your readers go to stoknesdotcom.wordpress.com they will be automatically redirected to stoknes.com.
Please note it may take a few days for the DNS to propagate so please be patient.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hi and thanks so much for your reply :)
This is what I asked the host to do. For some reason, stoknes.com is being redirected properly, but the address field only shows the wordpress-domain. When I try to set stoknes.com as the main, I get the message that this is already mapped to one of my blogs, but I can´t seem to reach it. Not sure if I manage to explain properly, I can try to take a screenshot if it helps?

Hi there,
I think understand what’s going on. The redirect was done properly; however, this is what’s causing the redirected loop when you choose stoknes.com as the primary domain. You set the domain: stoknes.com to redirect to stoknesdotcom.wordpress.com, so when you set the primary domain to stoknes.com it will redirect back to stoknesdotcom.wordpress.com because of the redirect. In order to get rid of this, please turn off the redirect and update the nameservers to ours like I said above. Then it will stop the redirect and stoknesdotcom.wordpress.com will point to stoknes.com.

I think I understand. I will contact the domain host and ask them to do this. Thank you very much for your help!

Hello again. I did run into a bit of an issue. I emailed the domain host with your instruction and got this reply:
“Changing the nameservers WILL affect you email
If you want the nameservers to change you will need to ensure that the new DNS nameserver has the entries needed to handle the existing email
MX
10 sitemail.everyone.net
CNAMES
mail.stoknes.com
pop.stoknes.com
smtp.stoknes.com..all pointing to shared-svc1.everyone.net”
I’m not sure I understand the full implication of the issue, but I can at least ask you if this is something you can check for me or how I can find out myself :)
Thanks for your help.

Hi there,
Yes, they are correct that changing the nameservers will affect your email. However, you can set that up by adding email through us. Here’s a guide on adding email:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/
Please note after adding the custom DNS it may take a couple days to propagate. If you have any questions with adding them please let me know and I’d be happy to help!
Cheers!
